Jump out of your skin react nervously or in shock. I nearly jumped out of my skin when the teacher shouted my name.
Lose your nerve suddenly become too scared to do something. He lost his nerve and decided not to audition.
My stomach is in knots feeling very tense inside. Her stomach was in knots before her performance.
