Exam task:
You attended a vibrant music festival recently with friends. The festival featured live concerts, food stalls, and a serene picnic area. Write an informal email to your friend, John, where you describe the festival and give a summary of the most exciting features of the festival, explain how you and your friends spent your time and invite John to join you at a similar festival next time.
Subject: You Won’t Believe the Festival I Just Attended!
I hope you’re good! I’ve just got back from the best music festival ever, and I’m dying to tell you about it. The vibe was completely charged – something in the atmosphere was electric, and we were welcomed with the lively sounds of live music bands playing everything from indie rock to energetic funk. The crowd around us was a sea of music lovers, all sharing the same thrill of the performances.
My friends and I spent the day dancing, exploring food stalls, and even setting up a little picnic area where we just relaxed and soaked in the vibes. We even found a spot where we could organise a tiny picnic with the help of blankets and snacks, where we could relax and soak in the atmosphere while gossiping and giggling.
One of the best moments was when my favourite band played! It was like a dream!
I’d absolutely love for you to join me at the next festival. I think it would be an unforgettable experience to share with you. Let me know what you think!
Best, Alex

Subject: Ready for a Camping Adventure?
Hi Jamie,
I hope you’re well! I’m planning a weekend camping trip to Maplewood National Park next month and would love it if you joined me. I’ve reserved a spot at a lovely campsite near a lake, where we can enjoy hiking, canoeing, and even a small barbecue in the evening.
We’re set to leave early Saturday morning and return by Sunday evening. I’m really excited about getting away from the city hustle and immersing ourselves in nature. Knowing your love for outdoor adventures, I’m sure you’ll appreciate the peaceful trails and the starry nights just as much as I do.
Do you have any suggestions for activities or meals for the trip? Let me know if the dates work for you and if you’re up for this little escape.
Looking forward to a great adventure!
Cheers, Sam

Informal letter 3
Exam task:
You recently took part in a charity run that was organised to raise donations for a local animal shelter. The event was lively, full of funny mishaps, and uplifting moments. Write an informal letter to your friend Sarah in which you:
- Describe the charity run and what happened at the event.
- Discuss how you felt after taking part.
- Invite Sarah to the next charity run.
Dear Sarah,
I hope you’re doing well! I just thought I’d mention the charity run I did at the weekend. It took place in a beautiful park and we raised funds for our local animal shelter. There were surprises all day – everything from a light drizzle which just made it more thrilling to a funny moment when I tripped over my own shoelaces (luckily, only making everyone laugh!).
Taking part in the run made me feel invigorated and a part of an amazing cause. I even got to meet some wonderful people who are like-minded towards assisting others. Overall, the experience left me inspired and more motivated than ever.
I’m actually going to the next event, and I think you’d like it too. It would be wonderful to have you with me for a day of fun, exercise, and good deeds. Let me know what you think!
Take care, Emily
