The suffix “-proof” is used to create adjectives that describe something that is resistant to a particular substance or condition.

Adjective Meaning Example sentence
Ageproof resistant to ageing. The cream is marketed as ageproof, promising to reduce signs of ageing.
Breakproof resistant to breaking The new smartphone is advertised as breakproof.
Bugproof resistant to bugs. The tent is bugproof, keeping insects out.

Childproof resistant to being tampered with by children. They installed childproof locks on the cabinets.
