40 Similes with AS and LIKE
Hello English learners. Welcome to a new lesson. We will look at some commonly used similes in English. What is a simile? A simile is a figure of speech that compares two different things to make a more emphatic expression by using like or as; for example, as cool as a cucumber or swim like a fish. Here is a list of 40 similes with ‘as’ and ‘like’ you must know.

healthy and full of energy. |

used to describe a calm and caring person. |

extremely proud. |

After the treatment, Jill’s skin was a smooth as silk. |

As stubborn as a mule |
extremely stubborn. |
You’ll never make him change his mind. He’s as stubborn as a mule. |

As hard/tough as nails |
lacking feelings such as fear or sympathy. |
The criminals were merciless, as hard as nails. |

As wise as an owl |
very clever and wise. |
One needs to be as wise as an owl to solve this maths problem. |

pale. |
Maria was ill and her face was as white as a sheet. |
