Describe the Setting

Use Past Tenses Correctly

A memorable day happened in the past, so past simple and past continuous will be your main tools.

Past Perfect — what happened earlier (I had never been so nervous)

Add Emotional Detail

A memorable day is memorable because of the feelings attached to it. Tell your reader how you felt.

Use Linking Words for a Smooth Story

Linking words help connect your ideas and make your writing sound fluent.

Contrast / unexpected events:

Adding details:

besides, in addition, what’s more

Example:

First, we met at the train station. Then, we headed to the beach, where something completely unexpected happened.

Build a Clear Ending

Finish your story by summarising why the day was so memorable and how it affected you.

Useful endings:
