Collocations for Strong Emotions

Hello English learners. Welcome to a new lesson. Have you ever wanted to say exactly how you feel, but couldn’t find the right words? Maybe you’ve said “very happy” or “really sad” a thousand times, but now you are ready to step it up a notch. At the B2–C1 level, it’s time to go beyond basic vocabulary and learn how to sound more natural, expressive, and fluent—just like a native speaker. One of the best ways to do that is through collocations. The natural combinations of words that English speakers use all the time without even thinking. In today’s lesson, we will explore 15 powerful collocations for strong emotions, ranging from joy and surprise to sadness, anger, and fear.
