Whether it’s your favourite blanket, a good cup of tea, or fluffy slippers, these are the words we use to describe our comfort zones.

Learning this vocabulary will help you talk about your routines, describe your living space, and even express your feelings and preferences. So, let’s get comfortable and dive in!

Cushion noun A soft pillow for a chair or sofa I always keep a few cushions on the sofa—it makes the room feel cosier.
Blanket noun A warm cover used on a bed or sofa She wrapped herself in a blanket and watched a film.
Slippers noun Comfortable indoor shoes I put on my slippers as soon as I get home.
Cosy adjective Warm, comfortable, and pleasant The café had a cosy atmosphere with dim lights and music.
Armchair noun A comfortable chair with sides for your arms Grandpa fell asleep in the armchair by the fire.
Scented candle noun A candle that gives off a pleasant smell She lit a scented candle to relax after work.
Bathrobe noun A soft robe worn after a bath or in the morning He came down for breakfast in a fluffy bathrobe.
Throws noun A small blanket used for decoration or warmth I keep a throw on the sofa in case it gets chilly.
Snuggle verb To curl up closely and warmly The children snuggled under the blanket to watch cartoons.
Heated blanket noun An electric blanket that keeps you warm I love using my heated blanket in winter.
Kettle noun A container for boiling water I put the kettle on and made a cup of tea.
Mug noun A large cup, often used for hot drinks She drank her coffee from her favourite mug.
Rug noun A small carpet used to decorate and warm the floor There’s a lovely soft rug in front of the fireplace.
Fireplace noun A space in a wall for a fire to warm a room We sat around the fireplace telling stories.
Curtains noun Cloth coverings for a window She closed the curtains and turned on a lamp.
Beanbag noun A large, soft seat filled with small pieces of foam or beans The children relaxed on the beanbag in the corner.
Nightlight noun A small light left on at night He keeps a nightlight on in the hallway.
Hot water bottle noun A container filled with hot water to warm the bed On cold nights, she uses a hot water bottle.
Pyjamas noun Clothes worn for sleeping He changed into his pyjamas and made some cocoa.
Knitted adjective Made from yarn using needles (often handmade) She wore a thick knitted jumper her gran had made.
Plush adjective Soft, thick, and luxurious The hotel room had plush cushions and deep carpets.
