Adverb + Adjective Collocations

Hello English learners, and welcome to a new lesson. If you enjoy learning collocations (and you really should!), you’re in the right place. Using adverb + adjective collocations is one of the easiest ways to make your English sound more fluent, precise, and natural — especially at B2–C1 level.
Instead of saying “very cold” or “very important” again and again, native speakers rely on fixed combinations like “bitterly cold” or “vitally important”. These combinations are common in both spoken and written English and are particularly useful for Cambridge exam speaking and writing tasks.
Let’s look at some of the most useful adverb + adjective collocations, with clear meanings and natural example sentences.
